报告摘要:

Understanding how local physicochemical processes govern battery performance is essential for rational materials design. This talk connects multiscale mechanistic insights with AI-driven discovery across lithium-ion, all-solid-state, and lithium-metal batteries. Operando X-ray characterization reveals how internal stress influences lithium transport within cathode particles, while interparticle interactions and electrode crosstalk shape gas evolution and cell degradation. In all-solid-state batteries, stress-dependent chemical potentials and alloy-mediated lithium transport provide insights into reaction heterogeneity and low-temperature operation. Building on a physics-based approach to materials design, molecular descriptors of coordination and electrostatic interactions enable machine-learning screening of over one million molecules to identify non-fluorinated electrolyte diluents. The talk concludes with ongoing efforts to develop a self-driving lab that integrates mechanistic understanding, machine learning, and automated experimentation to accelerate electrolyte discovery and optimization.
